The Uber for workers, at wage cost.

Ride-share solved getting somewhere. Food delivery solved getting fed. Nobody solved the labour itself. Gigz is building the world’s first on-demand workforce - starting in Canada, scaling globally.

Snapshot

The 30-second version.

Stage

Pre-launch

Live on TestFlight. Public launch Q3 2026.

First market

Durham, ON

700K+ pop, GTA-adjacent demand corridor.

Round

Pre-Seed

Raising to launch, build operations, scale.

Sector

Future of Work

Marketplace · Gig · Vertical SaaS adjacency.

The thesis

Labour is the last category on-demand hasn’t cracked.

Every other vertical has its winner. Rides have Uber. Food has DoorDash. Groceries have Instacart. Workers have nothing built for them - just staffing agencies that take 30-40% commissions and gig apps that race wages to zero. Gigz fixes the broken middle.

Before Gigz

Friction everywhere.

  • Customers can’t find help on-demand for moving, hospitality, snow, handyman, events.
  • Workers lose 30-40% of their pay to agencies before they see a dollar.
  • No vetting standard - customers gamble, workers go unverified.
  • Payment is manual, slow, and disputed weekly.

After Gigz

Tap, match, done.

  • Customers post instant or scheduled jobs - vetted worker arrives.
  • Workers keep 100% of their hourly fee and 100% of tips.
  • Every worker is background-checked and Gigz-Labs certified by category.
  • Stripe-powered weekly payouts. In-app chat. GPS. 911 tool.

Market opportunity

Big numbers, verified sources.

We don’t need to invent demand. The market exists - it just hasn’t had a platform built for it.

Wedge math

Start small, win big. If Gigz captures just 1% of the Canadian gig market at an average $25/hr rate and 2 hours per booking, that’s 24,000 jobs/week or roughly $62M GMV annually. Durham launch is positioned to capture 0.1% of that within year one.

Why we win

Structural advantages, not features.

Moat · 01

No-commission flywheel

Workers earn their full hourly rate plus 100% of tips. Lowest worker churn in the category by design - churn is the single biggest cost in any gig platform. Lower churn = lower CAC = stronger unit economics that compound over years.

Moat · 02

GigzLabs credential graph

In-app certification creates a verified skills graph competitors can’t replicate. Bartending School is the first GigzLabs app - forklift, hospitality, and food handler in development. Each new app deepens the moat and expands the marketplace.

Moat · 03

Ride Assist symbiosis

Workers without cars become incremental Uber/Lyft rides. Gigz expands ride-share TAM rather than competing with it. Every job we facilitate is a ride request - a partnership angle no other staffing or gig platform can credibly pitch.

Moat · 04

Enterprise wedge (GigzPool)

B2B contracts that traditional staffing fights over: moving cos, hospitality groups, property managers, event ops. Recurring volume, single invoicing, SLA-backed. Marketplace economics plus SaaS-style billing.

Moat · 05

Safety by default

911 emergency dispatching tool built into the app, GPS-tracked jobs, in-app chat on record, identity verification. No competitor ships this baseline - it’s an insurmountable trust gap once we’re first.

Moat · 06

Geographic compounding

Marketplaces win city-by-city. We’ve sequenced Durham → Toronto → GTA → Ontario → Canada → US Northeast. Each launch reuses the playbook with declining CAC.

Business model

Three revenue streams. One marketplace.

01 · Service fee

Customer side

Customers pay a transparent service fee on each job - platform infrastructure, dispute resolution, safety tools, support. Worker’s hourly fee is untouched.

Recurring per-job

02 · GigzPool

Enterprise contracts

High-volume business customers (moving cos, event ops, hospitality, property mgmt). Custom pricing, dedicated account management, single-invoice billing.

Recurring SaaS-style

03 · GigzLabs apps

Certification & training

Standalone education apps (Bartending School live; forklift, hospitality, food handler next). Acquisition funnel for the marketplace plus standalone revenue.

Founder

Built by someone who lived the problem.

Christopher Lamont

Founder & CEO · Gigz Labs Inc.

Chris worked in hospitality, moving, and event ops for a decade before founding Gigz. He watched staffing agencies skim 30% off worker pay while customers waited days for confirmation. He saw certified bartenders unable to find shifts and shift managers unable to find certified bartenders - same city, same week.

Gigz Labs is the answer: a platform built by someone who knows the difference between a worker who shows up at 8 AM with the right tools and one who doesn’t. Based in Durham, Ontario. GitHub: GigzLabs.
